Dundee United on the verge of shock transfer coup as Ivan Dolcek prepares for move amid Jim Goodwin’s transfer frenzy

Dundee United have been busy revamping their squad this summer, and they are now on the verge of adding Croatian winger Ivan Dolcek to their ranks. The club is working to secure Dolcek on a loan deal from Dunajska Streda, with an option to make the move permanent in the future.

Dolcek, who has represented Croatia at the under-23 level, is primarily known for his role on the left wing but is also capable of filling in at full-back. His experience includes a stint in Slovakia last season, though he spent much of that time back at his former club, Slaven Belupo, on loan.

The Croatian’s career began at Slaven Belupo, where he came through the youth system before moving to Hajduk Split. He also spent loan periods at Famalicao in Portugal and Croatian side HNK Sibenik, giving him a wealth of experience across different leagues.

Currently, Dolcek is under contract with Dunajska Streda until the summer of 2027. The proposed transfer to Dundee United depends on the successful acquisition of a visa and a medical examination. The club is eager to finalize the deal before their upcoming Conference League opener against UNA Strassen.

Dolcek is familiar with the Dundee United setup, having previously played alongside Vicko Sevelj at Hajduk Split. Sevelj, another Croatian, is already part of the United squad, which could help Dolcek settle in quickly if the move goes through.

United manager Jim Goodwin has been particularly active in the transfer market, having already brought in players such as Yehven Kucherenko, Iurie Iovi, Bert Esselink, Panutche Camara, Dario Naamo, Isaac Pappoe, Amar Fatah, and Zac Sapsford. The addition of Dolcek would further bolster the options available to Goodwin as the club prepares for European competition.

With the new season rapidly approaching, securing Dolcek’s services is seen as a key part of United’s plans to strengthen the team and make a strong impression both domestically and in Europe. Club officials remain optimistic about concluding the transfer in the coming days.
