Everton set transfer market ablaze as Jackson Tchatchoua saga sparks domino effect

Everton are continuing their search for reinforcements in the transfer window, despite already securing a few new additions. With eight players departing, including the notable exit of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, the club faces a significant rebuilding task this summer. The arrivals of Thierno Barry and Carlos Alcaraz have offered some optimism, but Everton’s recruitment efforts are far from over.

Attention has now turned to Jackson Tchatchoua, the Hellas Verona right back, as the club looks to strengthen its defensive options. Everton reportedly tabled a bid for Tchatchoua earlier in 2024, which was turned down, yet they remain committed to pursuing the 23-year-old this transfer window.

Tchatchoua featured prominently in Serie A last season, notching up 36 appearances and contributing to five goals. His defensive efforts helped Verona secure a 14th-place finish, making him a key figure for the Italian side. His performances have caught the eye of several teams, including Everton, Nottingham Forest, and Inter Milan.

According to SkySport.ch, Tchatchoua is now considering his next move, with Inter Milan emerging as a strong contender. The report indicates that “the 23-year-old has himself given his preference to the Nerazzurri,” suggesting Everton may face an uphill battle in securing his signature if Inter steps up their interest.

Inter Milan may view Tchatchoua as a potential replacement should Denzel Dumfries depart this summer. Financially, the Italian club would need to offer at least £8.67 million to persuade Hellas Verona to part ways with the Cameroonian defender, who could be in line for a long-term contract if the deal materializes.

Everton manager David Moyes is not lacking in right back options, with Seamus Coleman, Nathan Patterson, and Jake O’Brien all available for selection. However, with Coleman likely to play a more limited role moving forward, Moyes is eager to add depth and competition in this area.

At present, Tchatchoua remains a target rather than a confirmed signing, and much could depend on developments elsewhere in the market, particularly regarding Dumfries’ future. Nonetheless, the pursuit of Tchatchoua highlights Everton’s determination to bolster their squad and address the gaps left by recent departures.
