Tottenham eye £85m-valued Mohammed Kudus in sensational bid, marking potential first West Ham transfer in 14 years

Tottenham are showing a keen interest in securing the signature of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham, a move that could mark the first transfer between the two London rivals in more than a decade. If the deal is finalized, it would be the first player to switch directly between the clubs since 2011.

Kudus, who has a release clause set at £85 million specifically for Premier League clubs, is available to be triggered only during the first ten days of July. This detail adds a sense of urgency to any potential negotiations, particularly as the summer transfer window heats up.

West Ham, facing financial constraints, are reportedly willing to consider offers for Kudus as they look to balance their books before making new signings themselves. The Ghanaian forward has emerged as one of their most valuable assets, following an impressive spell since joining from Ajax two years ago.

Tottenham’s new manager, Thomas Frank, has identified Kudus as a priority in his first transfer window at the helm. The club, according to the Telegraph, are optimistic about negotiating a deal below the stipulated release clause, despite the high valuation.

A transfer would also require Tottenham to move past an unofficial embargo on direct deals with West Ham. Since Scott Parker’s move in 2011, relations have been frosty, with Daniel Levy even blocking Emmanuel Adebayor’s transfer to West Ham in 2015. No transactions have occurred between the clubs for 14 years.

Kudus is reportedly open to joining Tottenham, who are eager to bolster their attacking options before making a return to Champions League football. The forward had an immediate impact at West Ham, scoring 14 goals in his debut season and providing crucial contributions during a challenging year for the club.

Chelsea have also shown interest in Kudus, but their recent acquisitions of Jamie Gittins from Borussia Dortmund and Joao Pedro from Brighton suggest their priorities may lie elsewhere. Meanwhile, Tottenham are positioning themselves as strong contenders for Kudus’ signature as they aim to strengthen their squad for the European campaign ahead.
