Nottingham Forest begins negotiations over Callum Hudson-Odoi’s contract while Manchester United joins a three-way battle for the winger’s transfer
Nottingham Forest is making strategic efforts to secure Callum Hudson-Odoi’s future with the club amid interest from major European teams such as Roma, Napoli, and Manchester United. The 24-year-old winger made a significant impact last season, scoring five goals and providing three assists, which contributed to Forest’s historic qualification for European competitions after a 30-year hiatus.
The club’s management is determined to retain Hudson-Odoi, who joined from Chelsea in a £5 million deal two years ago. With only a year remaining on his contract, Forest is keen to prevent a transfer to European powerhouses. Manchester United had shown interest in January but was firmly rejected by Forest.
Roma and Napoli have also expressed interest in the winger this summer. Manchester United remains observant of the situation, as their new manager, Ruben Amorim, seeks to enhance his team’s speed and creativity on the flanks. Despite this, Forest is confident that Hudson-Odoi will choose to extend his stay, especially with Nuno Espirito Santo prepared to invest significantly for their European campaign.
The club is offering Hudson-Odoi a lucrative contract extension to deter other suitors. A source close to the player revealed that discussions are ongoing and a new deal has been proposed. While there is interest from abroad, the process is still in its early stages. Hudson-Odoi was satisfied with his performance last season, despite a hamstring injury hindering his contribution towards the end.
Originally from Chelsea’s youth system, Hudson-Odoi played 156 matches for the club before spending a loan season at Bayer Leverkusen during the 2022/2023 campaign. Forest managed to secure his services over Fulham the following season, offering him a three-year contract, where he has since experienced a career resurgence at the City Ground.
