Tawanda Maswanhise reveals surprising priority as Motherwell star prepares crucial talks amid Celtic speculation
Multiple clubs are monitoring Tawanda Maswanhise during the final stretch of the transfer window. The Motherwell striker, who leads the Premiership in scoring, has attracted significant interest from several organizations as the deadline approaches.
Celtic, Rangers, and various Championship sides are all considering bids to test Motherwell’s willingness to sell their prolific forward. Martin O’Neill was among the scouts who recently watched the 23-year-old perform impressively at Fir Park. However, manager Jens Berthel Askou has maintained that the club faces no pressure to part with their star player this month, particularly following Lennon Miller’s summer departure.
Maswanhise himself remains unfazed by the transfer speculation swirling around him. When speaking to The Chronicle, the Zimbabwe international emphasized his commitment to maintaining his current trajectory. He stated that he is satisfied with his performance levels and intends to continue scoring and creating goals for Motherwell moving forward.
Zimbabwe’s national coach Marian Marinică recently completed a scouting mission in Scotland where he held discussions with the player. The coach praised Maswanhise’s dedication and focus, noting the productive nature of their conversation. Additionally, the player was recognized as one of the standout prospects at the African Cup of Nations, further highlighting his rising prominence in international football.
Askou surprisingly substituted Maswanhise during last weekend’s commanding 4-0 victory over Kilmarnock, despite the forward having just netted his 16th league goal of the season. The manager clarified that tuning out transfer noise proves straightforward when concentrating on team success and keeping his players in peak condition for the demanding fixture schedule ahead.
